In 1977, Richard Kelly opened the doors to The Color Shop store, located in downtown Martin. An immediate asset and important community partner, The Color Shop has been a family owned and operated venture since the day it opened. From the beginning, he involved his children, Bubba [Nicholas] and Angie, in The Color Shop business and allowed them the opportunity to shadow him as he assisted customers on the floor of the store.

Like a second home to them, his children grew into full-time staff members and co-owners who learned from Mr. Richard Kelly about the importance of helping families and business owners in the community. The family remains in charge of the business and active in the community. Over the years, the business has experienced several expansions with the store that include the addition of Color Shop Construction, Color Shop Restoration, and the plumbing and handyman sectors.
